What is EGOI?
The European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI) is an international programming contest aimed at female and non-binary secondary school students. Every year, an increasing number of participants from Europe and beyond come together to share their passion for problem-solving and computer science. The EGOI has now reached its sixth edition, with the inaugural event held in 2021.
The EGOI encourages creativity, teamwork, and algorithmic thinking in a supportive environment for young women.
The format of the Olympiad is modeled after the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), the premier global computer science competition for high school students. The contest takes place over two days, each featuring a set of challenging algorithmic tasks of increasing difficulty. Participants have five hours per day to write programs that solve these problems, which are evaluated based on correctness and efficiency.
Each participating country may send up to four contestants. Participation is open exclusively to female and non-binary students who meet the eligibility criteria set by the EGOI regulations.
